Ok, we're in week 10 and I give up! I have been sick for the last 4 weeks. I literally almost went to the ER last Thursday to get an IV because I've been so dehydrated. (Couldn't even get water to stay down!) Apparently everyone forgets to tell you it's possible to have what I call "the baby flu" (cause that's what this reminds me of!) forever!!! Everyone just says, "Oh I loved being pregnant!" What on earth? They're crazy! The bright side is that maybe the symptoms will subside in the second trimester. A little hard to get excited since that's 3 weeks away! Yeah! Only 3 more weeks of feeling like butt!
So much for a healthy pregnancy diet. I've figured out I can usually keep down potato chips and chocolate milk. Ewe, I know. And anyone who knows me knows I don't usually touch milk! The thought of chocolate makes me gag! (Which is so weird because I LOVE chocolate!) But somehow the milk is OK. I don't know! I give up on this body! It's not mine anymore!
I think I've finally recovered from the huge DiscipleNow weekend I co-directed Jan. 18th-20th. I slept for literally 20 hours on Monday. That's pretty well my life right now: Sleep, swallowing whatever I can, trying to keep it down, and more sleep. Somewhere in there I'm struggling to work and keep up with life. I've relinquished all hope for my house and just try not to look! Dustin's doing the best he can, bless his heart, but this is all new to him too! He's made so many meals of things I think I can handle only to take all but 2 bites back to the kitchen while I run to the bathroom. I think he's a little traumatized right now and in survival mode. He's been so great to me!
I'm praying that the next 3 weeks fly by and I'm by the book and all better. We're so happy to have a baby on the way and I hope that soon, we'll be able to enjoy it.

Online (Finally!)
Monday, January, 28th
I finally gave up on trying to figure out my blog address on my pregnancy network site and just switched to the one my sister-in-law, Kristy uses. I imported some of the posts from my old blog site and will continue on here as I figure it out. I had originally hoped to post with a once a week update, but life (and feeling like death for four weeks!) hasn't cooperated. We'll see how it goes from here. Enjoy!

Bittersweet Dreams
Monday, December 31st
Well, we're definitely pregnant! I can't figure out how something so tiny can make me so sleepy all the time! 8 hours of sleep and a nap still isn't cutting it! I'm so blessed to have a flexible schedule right now so I can snooze a little more than normal. The holidays have provided a break from work and that helps. I can't sleep on my stomach right now and I'm up sometimes three times a night to head to the little girls room, so sleep is a challenge all the way around. I'm like Sleepy, one of the Seven Dwarfs!
So funny, but during all this sleep I've been having crazy dreams! I wake up wondering if they really happened or not! I had the strangest dream that I went to church and was drunk! I was trying to walk around and get things done and hoping no one would notice I had been drinking. I woke up and felt guilty! Isn't that crazy? Trying to figure it out, I decided it must be caused by the fact that am hiding at home for New Year's this year (so no one asks why I refuse champagne at Midnight) and that it was so hard keeping the baby a secret at church on Sunday. Put those two together and Bam! a crazy preggo dream!

Spreading our Joy!!!
Sunday, December 30th
We told our families this weekend that the two of us will soon be three! Friday night we went over to my Mom and Dad's house and gave them a "New Year's Gift," a gift of a health food book about eating right for your blood type. The card attached read "Love, The Three of Us." Mom was reading it out-loud with Dad and said Love like three times, screamed "The Three of Us!!!" dropped the card and did a silly, squished-face crying, run over and hugged me thing. Dad looked at the card, it sank in, and he got teary eyed and smiled so big. They couldn't believe it! So fun!
Saturday morning we woke up at 4am to drive to Waco to see Dustin's parents. We got to his brother's, Lee and Kristy's, house and they called them to come over. While we waited, we gave Lee and Kristy the news with the New Years card from the Three of Us and told my nephew, Price, that he was going to be a cousin! Becky and Brian came over and we suprised them when Dustin answered the door. We gave them a News Years Card and they both read it. Becky jumped up and gave us giggly hugs Dustin and Brian gave us the biggest hugs ever! They're excited!
Sunday, after church, we went back to Mom and Dad's and gave J-Lynn a crossword puzzle I told her was for the Youth Meeting that night. Each word in the puzzle had one letter underlined and the letter had a numbered space on the line at the bottom of the page. Once she found the letter's the message spelled out "We're Pregnant" She finished it and her eyes lit up and she gave me a great big hug. She's excited and thinks it's weird to be an aunt in Jr.High.
We aren't sharing the big news with everyone until we have a confirmed heart beat at 9-12 weeks. We are planning to tell my brother and his wife, Adam and Elizabeth soon. They are expecting only 8 weeks ahead of us. We don't want to just call them and drop the news, so we're going to figure out how to tell them soon.
It has been amazing to see everyone's faces and share the joy. My sister-in-law, Kristy, has been amazing and so helpful already. This is going to be a fun pregnancy to share with those we love!

First Doctor's Appointment
Friday, December 28th
On Friday morning, I had my first consultation with my OB nurse. So exciting! She confirmed that we are definitely pregnant! She was so incredibly nice and we talked for over an hour about everthing imaginable. She's super sweet and I look forward to spending time with her and my doctor over the next several months.
It's definitely starting to sink in that we're going to have a little one by this time next year. We have a tentative due date of August 31st, which, hilariously enough is my precious nephew's 1st birthday! Too cool!
I went to the lab and they drew blood for all kinds of fun tests. I go back in 3 weeks for my first visit with the Doctor. It was so funny, because just after my appointment, I went to get my hair cut. My hair stylist got to be the first person to find out when I told him no hair dye for me until late February! He was thrilled! We're planning to tell our parents and siblings this weekend now that we have a positive from the Doctor. Such fun!!!

The Best Christmas Gift Ever!
Christmas Day:
What an amazing Christmas Gift! We're finally pregnant! After 5 months of praying for a little one, we received a big yes on Christmas Eve! Honestly, we gave up in November because it was just so disappointing to get a no every month. (And we passed the summer window I was hoping for due to my job.) Apparently, no pressure and an early December vacation was all we needed! Now we're parents-to-be!
I tested at home Christmas Eve and had a very strong positive. I kept thinking, No way! Well, there was no cute way to tell my husband, (Like get him a World's Best Dad mug for Christmas) because everything is closed! Poor thing got the test all wrapped up for Christmas. Nothing like pee on a stick for Christmas! When he opened it, he said, "Is this for real!?!" He grinned for like 15 minutes straight! It was an amazing moment!
I got suspicious when my cycle symptoms were a little late and I was visiting the restroom every hour or so. NOT the norm! Now we know why! Right now I'm eating everything in sight and drinking a ton of water. Who knew?
We're sitting tight right now on our little secret and I'll be calling the doctor in the morning! We're going to wait to tell family until we've been to the doctor and are sure everything is as it should be. My sister-in-law is 13 weeks pregnant and we want to keep her in the limelight for as long as possible. My mom's going to freak when she has two grandkids 8 weeks apart! How fun to have cousins so close in age!
Everything hasn't really sunken in yet. I think we're still in shock. If it wasn't for the sparkle in my husband's eye each time he's looked at me today, I'm not sure if I'd believe it all happened yesterday!God's timing is perfect! Late August or early September we'll have a little one! This will definitely go down as the best Christmas Gift I've ever received!
