Gibberish

Sage is very vocal and talks all the time. She knows several words, but most of the time she talks in her "Gibberish" about whatever is on her mind at the time. I catch what I can on film, but it's not always easy! You can here a tiny bit of her taking to herself about her snack at the end of this video.

Big Girl Bed

As you may know, we've co-slept with Sage since my back surgery when she was 6 months old. At first it was for convenience so Dustin could sleep through the night while Sage was still nursing at night and I was unable to lift her on my own. As she slowly weaned, we realized we loved snuggling up with her a night and the bonding that co-sleeping brought our family. As she has grown and as I get bigger with Baby Solomon on the way with a very large abdominal incision eminent, we knew it was time to encourage her to make the move to her own bed and bedroom. We wanted to make the transition very positive and be sure she was comfortable there before we brought Solomon home.

We started with a full size mattress on the floor and she LOVES it! We have since added a bed frame that is still close to the ground along with a partial side rail and a step stool so she can easily climb in and out. She's never been a fan of the crib, but really likes being able to get in and out as she pleases and we have lots of security knowing she can come get us if she needs us.

So far she's napping in it beautifully and sleeps most of the night there. If she wakes up in the middle of the night, she simply climbs down and comes and gets us, usually with a big smile on her face. As she gets more and more comfortable and begins sleeping through the night again, she'll be completely in her bed all night!

We are SO proud of her and amazed at how smoothly this transition has been for her. Dustin and I are the ones that miss snuggling her to sleep every night!

23 weeks along!

I had a great check-up today! It's been 5 weeks since our ultrasound, so it was time for another monthly visit to the OB. My wondeful mom loaded up with Sage and I for the 2 hour trip to Nacogdoches.

The appointment began with the usual scale ande nearly fallling off of it when my weight was revealed! I've gained quite a bit in only 5 weeks. While I'm still a bit under average for 23 weeks, the doctor was very very pleased. The final relief from morning sickness and some serious holiday eating has definitely helped get me back on track.

Baby Solomon is getting big and strong. He immediately kicked the doppler away, but then turned around to reveal a very strong and healthy heartrate of 160 bpm. Both the nurse and the doctor said "You're definitely growing!" which kind of left me thinking, OK, how big am I? LOL! They both think he's a bigger baby, especially in comparison to my dainty little Sage! It's so nice to be confident that I'm growing a healthy baby boy in there!

After talking with the doctor today, I'm even more glad to have him helping me make difficult decisions regarding a repeat C-Section. He is going to let me go a full 40 weeks (granted everything looks safe, etc.) which I'm thrilled about! He will not take healthy babies before 39 weeks, but says most women are begging to be done by then. I want to roast this turkey as long as safely possible! I left the appointment feeling so confident and am starting to get excited to meet my son in only 16 weeks!!!
